Molly's Corner

First Report

"Taking off was a big deal; the car was packed, suitcases this way and that; it was cramped. We would still be there if my older brother Ben had not told Mom it was really time to leave. Half way to Hoboken, Mom remembered that she had forgotten all her toiletries, but we decided to buy some more in New York. I'll bet they'll have some."

"Today, we're going to New York City (that's it, right behind me and Dad--it's BIG). We're taking the PATH subway under the Hudson River, which is beautiful, by the way. We're staying at my big brother Duncan's in Hoboken, New Jersey. We're facing in the direction of his apartment in this picture."

"I'm on the subway in New York; it's faster than walking! It's really rickety and loud; my brother saw a RAT across the tracks at one of the stations. The rat wasn't as cute as my pet rat, Pepper."

"After New York, we drove to Annapolis, Maryland to spend the night with my friend from pre-school, Julia Smith. Her Dad is in the Navy and teaches at the Naval Academy. It was fun to see her again and explore Annapolis. Before we got to Julia's house, we stopped at LaxWorld, a huge lacrosse store nearby and then stopped for milkshakes. Ben played with Julia's brother, Andrew."

"Here's my bunk bed--with posters and my American Girl doll (Molly, too). It's plenty warm and pretty cozy. Ben's in the top. I have a curtain which is a big map of the US, but we haven't had time to sew the hem to hold it on the bar."

"Here are both of our bunks, at the foot. See Molly the doll? We're in Charleston now [Sunday, 1/26] and it finally got warm today. It's just about the first day on the whole trip so far when I haven't had to wear my heavy winter coat. I played with Ben in the playground in the RV park where we are staying."

            "See you next week."
