The Vehicle
Here she is
in all her 40' glory. One thing we have plenty of is storage. There's a "basement"
under the whole thing--like where you put your luggage on a Greyhound bus.
Notice Ben's favorite feature on top over the driver-- the air horn. We'll
be towing Mary's car--this thing is too big to drive downtown for a hamburger.
Passenger side view with one of the slide-outs in the
"out" position. The "hood" covering the generator is partially open. The engine
(a 350 HP Cummins diesel) is in the back, thus making this a "diesel pusher"
in RV lingo.
Here's the floor plan, only on our unit, we built bunk beds for the kids in
the space
where the hutch and a sink are shown. This also really gives you an idea of
how
important the slide-outs are; five months on the road with four people makes
you
want all the space you can get. This plan shows a washer-dryer but we decided
to
leave them out; most
RV parks have a laundromat .
The command center with a curtain pulled around in front
of the windshield. Don't worry, the TV is wired so it won't work while we're
under way. The little TV in the dash is the rear-view mirror; there's a camera
on the back but even so, I plan to do as little backing-up as possible.
Here's
the kitchen; the cook top is under the folding counter top under the oven.
I have a feeling we'll be doing a lot of spaghetti, one of Dad's (few) specialties.
Alas, no dishwasher; any bets on how often the kids will do them?
